Soon you will want to be able to train troops as fast as possible. Here is the way you do that:
So, how many barracks can you build?
It depends on how many other buildings you build. Here is my recommendation:
I have 16 barracks. I do have a siege tower since I was not lucky so far to win a second city deed, and I don't want to buy it. I will remove one barrack eventually because I want a tavern. With a tavern I will be able to quickly go to my alliance members. So that will leave me with 15 barracks. For you that skip the siege tower you will be able to have 16 barracks. If you skip the tavern you can have 17 barracks. But I hope you build the tavern so you can quickly help your alliance members when needed.
- Lots of barracks: Each barrack increase the training speed with 10%. Each lvl of barrack increase the speed additionally 1%
- High level of siege weapons: Each lvl increase training speed with 10%
- Assign your highest lvl hero to training BEFORE you start the training (not after, because then it has no effect).
- Keep your idle population as high as possible, but without having too many homes. Idle population is needed to train troops. When you train troops your idle population will go down. This is only temporary, but it takes a while for it to recover. When you start to get really big, you will be frustrated if you cannot train many thousands of troops at the same time.

- Skip the watch tower: The watch tower don't push notifications for incoming attacks. It means you will miss most of them anyway, since you will not be logged on everytime you get attacked. If you are lucky you will be able to see 5% of all attacks. So, watch tower is pretty unneccesary if you ask me.
Build only 6 homes. That is all you need, if you also make sure not to build too many rss fields. If you, like me, mostly rely on farming to get resources, you should rather have few rss fields so your idle population is high. - And if you won or bought your second city, you don't need a siege tower. Unless you want to participate in campaigns and collect items for artifacts.
- Build no more than 6 homes. All should have lvl 9
- Keep rss fields to a minimum. Each rss field requires workers. The more workes you have, the less idle population you have. You need one lvl 9 field per resource. But if you need more is up to you. The more you rely on farming the less rss fields you need. Really big players have only one field per rss in each city
